Foods Stamps are part of a welfare system that has gone off the tracks. The system was meant to help people get back on their feet during down times in unemployment. Never…ever…was it to subsidize laziness and attitude of “give me.”
President Trump has declared a war on the overuse of Food Stamps.
He is planning on a scheme that will make able-bodied people that receive food stamps to get in training programs or work opportunities.
The hope is it will save almost $200 billion over a decade. He sees the need for saving the money and telling people that can work that they need to do so.
In a letter to Congress, President Trump wrote;
“We must reform our welfare system so that it does not discourage able-bodied adults from working, which takes away scarce resources from those in real need. Work must be the center of our social policy.”
Nearly 50 million people receive food stamps. That means 1/5 of the people in this country rely on someone else to feed their families or themselves. Food stamps were never meant to be a Right. Deserving people that need help is one thing. But to take advantage of the system is wrong.
Facts about Welfare:
- 2011 study stated that junk food was the predominant purchase utilizing food stamps.
- One state, Maine, required welfare recipients to find work or be involved in training programs.
The sad fact is many people purposely defraud the government to receive food stamps. Listen in at a neighborhood grocery store sometimes when people are paying with food stamps. You can sense the tension from others around when they witness what is in the person’s shopping cart.
Food stamps and Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards are the predominant methods of using welfare monies. These should ONLY be for those that have genuine needs…such as truly unemployed but actively looking. The cost to Americans yearly for food stamps is near $84 billion dollars.
Obama grew the rate of food stamp distribution. His mindset was to build a needy class that depends on the government. Oh, wait…that is the liberal mindset period.
Trump told his voters he would do all to rebuild this country. This plan to get people off of food stamps and prove their work s a great stretch to that end.
