A lawmaker in Washington state is introducing a bill to try to deal out justice to protesters who shut down critical roadways.
The left is increasingly turning to this new tactic when they try to get noticed. The practice is actually a form of terrorism – economic terrorism. Since local businesses rely on the free and efficient flow of goods across our roads, anytime a major disruption occurs, hardworking Americans get hit in the bank account. These leftists are really interested in creating anarchy. If this behavior spreads, it could have an increasing effect on local economies.
In addition, there are documented cases where rescue vehicles and ambulances have been unable to get through the crowds. Not to mention it’s a terrible inconvenience for motorists going about their business just trying to get home or pick up the kids from daycare.
Of course this rabble of protesters could not care less about ordinary people trying to live life. Most are just losers who’re bored and destructive. That’s why it’s more than welcome that lawmakers are starting to address this problem.
A Washington state senator has begun work on a bill aimed at protesters. This bill will allow prosecutors to drop the hammer of justice on protesters engaging in “economic terrorism”, as the senator Doug Ericksen explained.
What is economic terrorism? Sen. Ericksen further explains, “those who intentionally break the law in an attempt to intimidate or coerce private citizens or the government by obstructing economic activity,”
This is controversial to many leftists arguing this legislation infringes on their First Amendment rights. Unfortunately for them their argument is incorrect. The First Amendment does not permit shutting down public roads.
“I respect the right to protest, but when it endangers people’s lives and property, it goes too far,” Sen. Ericksen said. “Fear, intimidation, and vandalism are not a legitimate form of political expression. Those who employ it must be called to account.” You either have laws or you do not, America.
The proposed bill does not only target those actively protesting in such a manor. The Washington state senator says those who “fund, organize, sponsor or encourage others to commit acts of economic terrorism” will also be held accountable.
